ECOP Dialogue with Labor Secretary

The ECOP leadership, along with other members of the ECOP Board – Honorary Chairman Sergio Ortiz-Luis, Jr., President Emeritus Ancheta K. Tan, Vice President Feliciano L. Torres, and Governor Donald G. Dee &ndash as well as leaders and representatives of industry associations, held a dinner dialogue with Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz last Sept. 14 at Makati Shangri-la Hotel.
The dialogue tackled a broad range of issues &ndash proposed ten-hour, 4-day workweek, Pregnant Women Workers Act, impact of too many holidays on business, wages, ongoing review of DOLE Department Order No. 18-02, and employment and competitiveness. Industry leaders emphasized the need for the DOLE to take into account the business community’s overriding concern on investment&ndash and employment-friendly business climate whenever DOLE comes out with issuances and to also consider industry competitiveness.
